‘Why didn’t I think of that?’

In most cases, the cultivation of herbs depended greatly on climate and environment. If the right conditions couldn’t be provided, then one had to resort to other, more physical methods like fertilizers, for example, just as Jactor had mentioned. If there were a fertilizer capable of coaxing the Dirkworth to bloom…

“Mordian. With that fertilizer, it might just be possible.”

Unlike ordinary fertilizers, Mordian emitted a subtle floral fragrance and was prized for its ability to spur rapid growth in plants. The answer to the stubborn problem finally seemed within reach, and Evelyn felt as if the clouds had parted, sunlight pouring down to brighten her thoughts.

Maybe thinking the same thing, the boy let out a quiet gasp of realization.

“Ah! You mean the fertilizer said to be infused with magic?”

    “Yes, exactly that.”

“But didn’t they say obtaining Mordian is as difficult as plucking a star from the sky?”

Just as Jactor had said, obtaining that fertilizer was every bit as difficult as getting a Dirkworth to bloom. For a moment, Evelyn was lost in thought before murmuring softly.

“There’s always a way, if one looks hard enough.”

    “Pardon?”

The boy tilted his head, puzzled, but she only replied with a knowing smile.

“We might be able to get hold of some Mordian sooner than you think.”

It was a morning as calm and peaceful as any other.

    Knock, knock—

A light knocking at the door, followed by a familiar voice calling from just beyond the bedroom.

“My lady, may I come in for a moment?”

    “Yes, come in.”

With her permission, Laria stepped into the room and approached the bedside.

“My lady, Young Lord Valentino has sent over a dress for you!”

At her maid’s voice, brimming with excitement, Evelyn peeked her head out from beneath the covers.

“A dress, all of a sudden?”

“Goodness! I told you the other day, didn’t I? We’re supposed to visit the boutique today.”

“Ah, now that you mention it…”

Evelyn let out a faint sigh before finally sitting up in bed. She found herself recalling the conversation she’d had with her fiancé on her way back from the orphanage not long ago.

“I’ll send you a dress that will suit you soon.”
“Forget it. I don’t need any more dresses.”
“Then, we should go choose one together.”
    “No, just send it!”

Even though she had intended to refuse since her dressing room was already overflowing with dresses gifted by her parents, it seemed he had sent one anyway.

Upon receiving the dress from Axion, Evelyn couldn’t help but look a little troubled for a moment.
